There are a few ridiculously dope albums coming out in the near future that have got me geeked up. The recently finished 3rd album by lyrical stud Lupe Fiasco, entitled LASERS; is sure to make waves again by expanding the FNF fan-base. Since the original FNF mixtapes, Lupe’s talent for writing has always been evident; but his improvement of overall sound has allowed him to tap into specific fan-bases of unique sub-genres. Look forward to this soon-to-be classic, headlined by single “I’m Beamin’,” now on iTunes. No official release date has been issued, but the project is 100% finished and in the hands of Atlantic Records.
Another album that is sure to be in heavy rotation this Spring is gangsta rapper Game’s The RED Album. With the release of single “Shake” just last week, Game too is changing up his typical beat selection. Since confirming his return to Aftermath recently on Twitter, fans are expecting to see some pure Dr. Dre production on this album, with release date of March 23. Also hitting stores on the 23rd is Big Boi’s first solo album Sir Lucious Left Foot.
There are three collaboration efforts; possible classics, hitting stores within months. They are Reflection Eternal (Talbi Kweli & Hi-Tek), Nas & Damien Marley have a project coming out, and out just next week Freeway and Jake One have a highly anticipated, critically acclaimed album entitled the Stimulus Package. These albums are a hip hop fan’s dream.
As for other artists looking to put in work in 2010, the Cool Kids’ When Fish Ride Bicycles is expected this Spring. Jay Electronica is also expected to finally step up to the plate and put something out of the park. Cleveland hopeful and Kid Cudi sidekick Chip tha Ripper has been putting in work lately and making noise with the Cleveland Show mixtape; look for him to do it big this year as well.
