Lil Wayne is here with his official “How To Love video” off of his Tha Carter IV album which is coming soon. In fact, it’s set to be released digitally the night of the VMAs in order take full advantage of that hype and buzz. I’m wondering whether the project will outsell “Watch The Throne” but honestly don’t care if it does because I don’t think the quality will be as high as Jay-Z and Mr. West set. The one thing I like about Weezy though is that he isn’t afraid to mix things up and is one of the most competitive people in his craft. I think that the competitive energy is what draws people into his music and causes him to always push himself to do something different.

I can understand why people like the song “How To Love” but to be honest, I’m not a huge fan of it. It is a commercial song, but it’s not something you’re going to find me listening to when his album drops. If I could pick any Wayne to listen to, it would be back in the good old days when he was working heavily with Mannie Fresh. I’m actually kind of depressed that him and Mannie no longer are working together because they both are incredibly talented at what they do.

Mannie though I know is trying to overcome some mental obstacles after leaving Cash Money and coping with the death of his daughter. Songs like “Bring It Back” and “Go DJ” are two of my most played Wayne jams of all time. What’s hilarious is that I’d guess that most fans of Wayne these days have no clue about songs like “Tha Block Is Hot,” the entire “500 Degreez album,” or know who B.G., Turk, and Juvenile were… It’s unfortunate. Juvenile needs to start putting out more music so I can at least post him up…

I’m not going to hate on this song because there’s nothing wrong with it, it’s a nice tune for mainstream radio and people that enjoy slower jams.

If I’m listening to slow Wayne though, I’d take the song “Birds Flyin High” featuring Juelz Santana over this any day of the week… Then again, I do have different taste than 99% of music listeners these days. It seems like people either blindly follow underground or blindly follow mainstream without much middle ground and dislike the other. I appreciate both, but am not afraid to call out songs that I don’t particularly enjoy like this one… This is clearly made for teenage females… nothing wrong with that though. But I’m not a teenage female.
