The-Dream – 1977 Terius Nash (Official Album Download + Tracklist)

The-Dream just released his official “1977 Terius Nash album” for free download for his fans. There are a total of 11 new tracks for his fans to enjoy. Originally he had wanted his upcoming album entitled “The Love IV: Diary of a Mad Man” to be released on his birthday (September 20th). However, something changed and he’s not able to release it on that date. In fact, it is set to get pushed back to the fourth quarter of 2011 a.k.a. November or December. So in the meantime, he decided to hook the fans up with this project to enjoy for free – definitely a classy thing to do. Plus what’s really dope is that all the files are in .M4A ready to be dragged right into your iTunes library…

As you should already know, he did the song “Murderer” which is featured on the upcoming soundtrack and trailer for the movie Colombiana. I’m glad to see a feature from Big Sean on the track “Ghetto.” There were a couple of features from Casha (who I’m not familiar with), but I’m actually most looking forward to hearing what kind of music The-Dream came up with for this one. There’s no denying that he’s one of the most vocally talented singers in the R&B game these days. Click here to read more.. »

STS – The Illustrious Album (Official Download + Tracklist)

Rapper STS (Sugar Tongue Slim) released a brand new “The Illustrious album,” and man it’s dope. I honestly thought it was going to be put out for sale on iTunes, but for some reason, it’s popping off for free through his website… crazy!  UPDATE: You should eventually be able to support him on iTunes (there are “iTunes bonus tracks” listed, so it would make sense that he’ll put it out for sale. The album was recorded in Atlanta’s legendary Tree Sound Studios and features years worth of mastering, music, lifestyle, and experience on the album. STS was featured on the “Ski Beatz 24 Hour Karate School 2 album” and did an awesome job on the song “Moonwalking.”

STS – The Illustrious Album (Artwork)

To make sure that he was on point throughout the album, he enlisted some of hip hop music’s elite artists to help him.  He got Ski Beatz, The Alchemist (AlanTheChemist), Will Power, and The Knux for the production and instrumentals.  He also enlisted the likes of Pierre Medor, Prentis Brown, Dame the Great, School Boy Vic, Kari “Ferrari” Marteen, KP and Malay, Emile, Felony Music, Blak, and BearOne for some instrumentals.  As far as features are concerned, he got Farnsworth Bentley, Count Justice, Dice Raw, Tony Williams, The Mad Violinist, Yelawolf, Jon Hope, and Nikkiya.

There are so many tracks that you can’t really go wrong.  Although I didn’t listen to it in its entirety yet, I think it sounds alright.  If you don’t know what to think about him and don’t want to write S.T.S. (Sugar Tongue Slim) off without giving him a chance, I suggest you start with the track “Sugar’s Here” (song #3) because it bangs, showcases his flows, and lyrical ability.  I’m not going to hype this up like it’s really amazing, but I think that it’s some really quality hip hop music for the people.  I will post up STS anytime he drops something…  Anyways, continue reading below for his words about the album, the official tracklist, as well as a download link!  He has come along way since the “Sugar Tongue Slim – Demand More 1.2 Mixtape” – that’s for damn sure. McKenzie Eddy – Young Platinum Album (Official Download + Tracklist)

McKenzie Eddy released her official “Young Platinum album” today for free download which is definitely dope.  In case you don’t know who she is, she’s a talented musician that has been making music with solid artists like Curren$y, Ski Beatz, Dame Dash, Vado, and Camron.  I’m pretty sure she ended up linking up with Dame Dash somehow and told him that she made music too and him and Creative Control (I believe) allowed her to do her damn thing.

I’m glad they let her loose to make music because most appearances I’ve heard from her have been solid.  She was featured on the track “Silence” off of Curren$y’s “Pilot Talk II album” which is out now.  My favorite song by her though is “Homegrown (Remix)” – she basically took Eric Church and remixed it with Curren$y and herself… it turned out awesome and was definitely my favorite track from her prior project entitled “A Prelude To My Next Excursion” which you can find online for free as well.  Sidenote: What ever happened to Curren$y’s “Muscle Car Chronicles” project that was supposed to drop with her?

McKenzie Eddy – Young Platinum Album (Artwork)

As you can see, this project features the likes of GLC, Murs, Camron, Vado, Da$h, Kat CHR, Ski Beatz, Sean O’Connell, Kool A.D., DJ Woody, and Ben Fagan.  I have no clue how she managed to get so much production from Ski Beatz, but anytime he’s producing, you know it’s going to be a problem!  If you don’t believe me, just check out his latest “24 Hour Karate School 2 album” and listen to some of the instrumentals on there… Then go listen to the O.G. “24 Hour Karate School” and you’ll realize that he’s got mad skills…  Anyways, you can check out the official tracklist below as well as hit up the free download link courtesy of China at DD172 New York.

In the direct words of McKenzie Eddy herself:

“First of all, today is my brother’s birthday. Aug 16. Very fitting to drop this free album on this day. A line from “we play to win” – “Jesse taught me 5 years old not to cry lace my shoes up,” speaks volumes about how My brother helped shape me, made me a fighter.  She continued by saying, “GLC is amazing. We recorded every song on this record in 2 days. He’s a legend and I am honored to have worked with him.” Click here to read more.. »

Ski Beatz – 24 Hour Karate School Part 2 (Album Review + Download + Official Tracklist)

Ski Beatz is back with the release of his “24 Hour Karate School Part 2 album” through DD172 LLC for the masses. I remember this past fall of 2010 when his original “24 Hour Karate School album” was finally released after a ton of sample clearance issues. I ended up picking up the original album when it came out at the beginning of the year. I thought that the project was amazing because it had some awesome production from Ski Beatz and a variety of my favorite artists including: Curren$y, The Cool Kids, Jay Electronica, Tabi Bonney, Joell Ortiz, Jean Grae, Mos Def, Stalley, and a new artist named Rugz D. Bewler who made an awesome contribution with the song “Super Bad.”

Ski Beatz – 24 Hour Karate School Part 2 (Album Artwork)

Quick note: This is some of the most creative album artwork that I’ve seen in a long time… Props for actually being creative with your artwork Ski Beatz! An example of lame non-creative artwork would be that featured on the Ace Hood Blood Sweat and Tears album; in case you were wondering. Well the lineup for “24 Hour Karate School Pt. 2” didn’t look quite as solid when I first looked at the official tracklist. I saw that Tabi Bonney was back on there (awesome), as well as Mikey Rocks (of The Cool Kids), and Freddie Gibbs who is one of the hottest upcoming street artists these days from Gary, Indiana. Anyways, I was a little bit surprised to see that he wasn’t able to get Curren$y, Chuck Inglish, Stalley, or Rugz D. Bewler for this one – I would have liked to have heard more Rugz especially since he doesn’t really have much material out over good production like Ski Beatz. Click here to read more.. »

Ace Hood – Blood Sweat And Tears (Album Review + Download + Official Tracklist)

Ace Hood recently dropped his official “Blood Sweat and Tears album” for the masses with affiliation to the “We The Best” DJ Khaled Floridian brotherhood. This project was highly anticipated by some – especially those big into the southern hip hop music scene. Although we all know that the “Ferrari Boyz album” is what most people in the south wanted to hear more than anything on August 9, 2011 – this project was also released through The Island Def Jam Music Group. As you probably already know, Ace Hood is from the streets a.k.a. the “gutta” and possesses a hardcore rhyming style that goes hard.

Ace Hood – Blood Sweat and Tears (Album Artwork)

Even though the majority of the time he isn’t lyrical, he is capable of making some bangers with the right production and features. I’ll admit that my favorite songs by Ace up to this point in his career are definitely “Cash Flow” (which featured T-Pain) as well as “Hustle Hard (Remix)” featuring Lil Wayne. Nearly all of his best tracks started with the foundation of a good instrumental. Although Ace Hood doesn’t really have the prowess to craft amazing choruses on his track, he can make some street bangers that hip hop music fans can enjoy. Click here to read more.. »

Royce Da 5’9″ – Success Is Certain (Album Review + Download + Official Tracklist)

Royce Da 5’9” delivers his solo “Success Is Certain album” as a follow up to his last solo effort entitled “Street Hop.” In case you haven’t been following Royce, he is now affiliated with Shady Records  (Gracie Productions?) Eminem, and has been putting out nothing but solid music. He is on his grind with the group Slaughterhouse (Joe Budden, Crooked I, Joell Ortiz) and had been working hard on this album for a long time coming. Even though a lot of other albums may have dropped on the same day as this one (Kanye x Jay, Gucci x Flocka, etc.) there was no way I was going to pass up listening to and reviewing “Success Is Certain.”  Remember when he dropped “Death Is Certain” back in the day? Yeah well “Success Is Certain” clearly demonstrates the growth in Royce Da 5’9″‘s musical career.

Royce Da 5’9″ – Success Is Certain (Album Artwork)

Upon listening to this project, the highlight was definitely the lyricism that Royce brought to the table. The instrumentals were solid for the most part and I cannot really complain about this latest offering from the Detroit emcee.  He proves that he is capable of making quality hip hop music and there were definitely songs that I really enjoyed from this project.  Below are the tracks that you’ll get with the deluxe version of this album as well as a long review that I wrote for this album.  Be sure to check it out and let me know what you thought of the album. Gucci Mane & Waka Flocka Flame – Ferrari Boyz (Album Review + Download + Official)

Gucci Mane and Waka Flocka Flame put together the “Ferrari Boyz album” which the fans have been waiting on for some time now. Warner Bros Records was behind the release (with 1017 Brick Squad/Mizay Entertainment Inc./Brick Squad Monopoly (BSM)) and they were nice enough to allow me to get an advanced “Ferrari Boyz album” listening session before the scheduled release date of August 9th. As a fan of Gucci Mane who has been listening to his material since his Chicken Talk mixtape, it was nice to hear what he and Waka Flocka could do with this latest release as the “Ferrari Boyz” or “Rarri Boyz.” Before I even listened to the album, I expected it to have some really raw material for the streets.

1017 Brick Squad Mixtapes (Summer 2011)

Obviously since I’m up to date with all of my 1017 Brick Squad Muzik, I have been up to date with all of their latest projects including:

In other words, I know that 1017 Brick Squad and the BSM: Brick Squad Monopoly has had things on lock for awhile now. There were a few tracks that I knew would be on the Ferrari Boyz album including the title track “Ferrari Boyz,” “She Be Puttin On,” “I Don’t See You,” “Young Niggaz,” and “Mud Musik” because they were all featured on previous mixtapes that had been out for awhile. With that said, they were obvious bangers and really helped build up some hype for the album. Additionally, the versions on the album are mastered and sound significantly better than the versions that originally appeared on the mixtapes. Click here to read more.. »

Gucci Mane & Waka Flocka Flame – Ferrari Boyz Album Artwork + Tracklist (Official)

Gucci Mane and Waka Flocka Flame are going to finally release the “Ferrari Boyz album” on August 9, 2011 despite the fact that on the recent Gucci Mane Writing on the Wall 2 mixtape he says that it will be in stores on August 2nd. Either way, I’m just glad that this album is going to finally see the light of day and isn’t going to be pushed back again. I plan on writing a full length review of the album when it drops so I’m not going to go into too much detail as of now regarding the project. Just know that this was a project I have been looking forward to for a long time now and I’m pretty jacked up to know that it’s going to be released. UPDATE: Check out my Ferrari Boyz album review!

Gucci Mane & Waka Flocka – Ferrari Boyz Album Artwork (Official)

If you have been following Gucci Mane, Waka Flocka, and 1017 Brick Squad, then you know this is going to be a huge release. They have some crazy production from Southside a.k.a. Southside on the Track. As of now, you can check out the Waka Flocka Flame Du Flocka Rant mixtape and hear the songs “Mud Musik,” “Young Niggaz,” and you should have already heard “Ferrari Boyz” which is their title track. Plus the song “She Be Puttin On” is already on iTunes for purchase and it leaked on the internet a long time ago. Click here to read more.. »

Trae Tha Truth – Street King (Album Review + Download)

Trae Tha Truth recently released his “Street King album” and a lot of people are wondering whether it’s any good. Well, let me start off by saying that if you have been a fan and follower of Trae Tha Truth, then you know he has been making big moves this past year. With that said, he is not a newcomer to the hip hop music game, he has been on the grind down south for awhile now. Frazier Thompson III (Trae tha Truth) is from Houston Texas and is known as part of the group Screwed Up Click as well as part of the group Guerilla Maab with Z-RO and Dougie D. According to multiple sources, he is also the older brother of lesser known rap artist JayTon.

Trae Tha Truth – Street King (Album Artwork)

Okay, so now that I broke down a little bit of his history and roots for the people, what’s the deal with the Trae tha TruthStreet King album,” can the people get a review? No doubt, he is a veteran rapper from Houston and first emerged on the scene in 1998, so it’s only right that Drew checks up on his latest offering. Past albums that he’s done include: “Losing Composure” (2003), “Same Thing Different Day” (2004), “Restless” (2006), “Life Goes On” (2007), and “The Beginning” (2008). This guy also was the same guy that had an altercation with (who?) Mike Jones at the Ozone Awards in 2008, but both manned up and squashed their problems after it went down. Roscoe Dash – Ready Set Go Album Update (New Mixtapes + Release Date + Collaborations)

Roscoe Dash has been one of my favorite artists in the game since I heard him back in 2008 and I was immediately impressed with what I was hearing. He’s from Zone 4 Atlanta and has really made a huge impact on hip hop music since his emergence. Initially, I got him mixed up with the trio of Travis Porter, who have a similar sound, but they are distinctly different if you listen to both groups (which I do).

Roscoe Dash – Ready Set Go Album Artwork

Anyways, it’s been a lot of fun to see an artist like Roscoe Dash go from not really having much to his name to getting on tracks with Kanye West, Waka Flocka Flame, Big Sean, Juicy J, Wale, B.o.B, Three 6 Mafia, and Soulja Boy (which you probably knew from the “All The Way Turnt Up” track).  Travis Porter stole the “All The Way Turnt Up” track from him and promoted it under their name so people were really confused as to whose track it originally was – it was Roscoe Dash’s track (so if you’re a total noob and have your version by Travis Porter, please leave this website now and stay ignorant).

What’s Up with the Roscoe Dash Ready Set Go (Pre-Album Promo Mixtape)?

I wanted to let you all know that the Roscoe Dash “Ready Set Go album” promo has been floating around the internet for awhile now. I’m honestly not sure why some people are calling it the “Ready Set Go mixtape” because it’s really more like a promotional album. I’m not sure if he even intended for it to be released, but it’s been out for awhile now and being the huge fan that I am, I got a copy a couple years back. Since I was absolutely pissed off that his album was never released, I pretty much had been playing the promo album as well as his old mixtapes for the past year or so and they really haven’t gotten old at all.
