Jay Rock released his official “Code Red video” off of his latest “Follow Me Home album” which is in stores now. This joint features Kendrick Lamar as well as production from Phonix Beats and is the second track on the album. Lyle Wayne and Top Dawg Ent. bring you this latest video with Chris Martinez. I really liked the “Say Wassup video” that they did with the entire Black Hippy group to kick start things. Now the Strange Music representative is back with another banger and is showing you that his latest project is pretty damn consistent.
Jay Rock – Code Red Video (feat. Kendrick Lamar & Phonix Beats)
In case you missed it, Kendrick also recently released his official “ADHD video” which turned out really solid as well. Anyways, another track I really liked off of Jay Rock’s recent release featured Kendrick and is called “Hood Gone Love It.” Hopefully you’ve had time to check up on this project and support if you liked what you’ve heard. I included a download link that will take you to his album on iTunes where you can cop this track as well as others or the complete project if you missed it’s initial release. WALE (We Ain’t Like Everyone) just released the official “That Way video” featuring Jeremih and Rick Ross… This is off of the Maybach Music Group “Self Made Vol. 1 album” which is in stores now. A short while back, you should have gotten the WALE Eleven One Eleven Theory mixtpae as a prequel to his upcoming “Ambition album.” Anyways, I like everything I’ve heard from MMG recently. On this particular track, I’d have to say that Jeremih gets MVP for that smooth-as-hell chorus, but they all make quality respective contributions.
WALE – That Way Video (feat. Rick Ross & Jeremih) (Official)
I think that the video above turned out to be really quality. I’m actually glad they went with this track because it showcases the fact that they can make smooth classy music and not just street bangers like “PacMan“… Musically, I’ve got to give Rick Ross a lot of credit for organizing the team and making MMG a heavyweight group in the game. Really even Meek Mill has been putting out some great music lately like the “Dream Chasers Mixtape” and Pill has been on the grind with “The Diagnosis” project. Oh and did I mention the fact that Ross has the underground (super dope) Stalley in his lineup… Click here to read more.. »
Nicki Minaj is here with her latest “Fly video” featuring Rihanna. It’s off of Nicki’s “Pink Friday album” which has been out for a long ass time now. This is another Cash Money Records release… Anyways, I did happen to see Nicki win an award at the VMA’s, but on the real, what was she trying to prove with her apparel? There are really no words for how bad it was… Yeah I know you’re a “Barbie” but you looked like a female Porygon (the Pokemon). The thing is, I actually think Porygons are cool, but I don’t want to see Minaj wearing another one of those… Okay I’ll stop the hate.
Rihanna & Nicki Minaj – Fly Video (Official)
It has been awhile since I’ve posted new Nicki up here… Back in 2009 I posted a video of Nicki Minaj and Omarion, and since then I haven’t really posted much at all. I don’t really know what else there is to say other than she’s probably working on some more new music. She has taken a temporary hiatus from her solo grind and she’s pretty much involved with Pop remixes with Ke$ha, Britney Spears, et al. Click here to read more.. »
Yelawolf is here with his official “No Hands video” off of his upcoming “Radioactive album.” The video was inspired by the Driver San Francisco video game presented by Ubisoft. The video was shot and recorded at several of San Francisco’s landmark locations. It features Yelawolf driving a real life version of the “Driver” car from the video game throughout the city in the bay area. This is basically like a cross promotional video since the game isn’t out yet. The game is set to be released on September 6, 2011 if you think it looks cool enough to get. I’m thinking this song should be on the soundtrack… but I could be wrong. Anyways, it’s been awhile (see the “Good To Go video“) since I last posted up some new Yela.
Yelawolf – No Hands Video (Official)
As of now if you want to get a copy of this track, I suggest checking iTunes. I know that he “accidentally” released it for download on Twitter for his fans and shortly after he deleted his Twitter account. It’s cool to see him rocking with the Shady Records label and I’m definitely hoping that there’s at least one Eminem collaboration on his album… or Slaughterhouse… or both. Anyways, I bought his first “Trunk Muzik: 0 to 60” and thought it was cool, but I know he’s capable of doing a lot better. Click here to read more.. »
Big K.R.I.T. is here with his new official “The Vent video” from his “Return Of 4 Eva” soon to be released as an album on the same date as J. Cole’s project. Anyways, K.R.I.T. (King Recognized In Time) is always putting out good music for the people and that’s why I’m a big fan. He’s from Mississippi and has been really carrying the state on his back over the course of the past year or so. He was recently featured in the 2 Chainz “Pimps video” with Bun B and put out the “Last King 2: God’s Machine mixtape” to give you some awesome unreleased material before his album drops.
Big K.R.I.T. – The Vent Video (Official)
What I like about this song “The Vent” is that it’s dedicated to the passing of his grandma, who played a huge role in making K.R.I.T. the person that he is today. This is real music, raw emotion, and it demonstrates his talent as an artist. Although he definitely has some more upbeat bangers, he is definitely not afraid to showcase his skills and stay underground. People are starting to come full circle and realize that they should be looking out for more from K.R.I.T. and should definitely get ready for his debut album. Click here to read more.. »
Young Jeezy is here with his new official “Do It For You video” featuring Freddie Gibbs a.k.a. Gangsta Gibbs. Word is that Jeezy is going to drop a new mixtape with DJ Drama as a follow up to “The Real is Back” tape. His upcoming “Thug Motivation 103 album” has a scheduled release date of September 20th and I’m personally hoping that the date does NOT change. I’ve been a huge Jeezy fan since his original tapes like “Trap Or Die” and “Can’t Ban the Snowman” – both of which still get rotation in my iTunes library to this day.
Young Jeezy – Do It For You Video (feat. Freddie Gibbs) (Official)
I do like the fact that Jeezy signed Freddie Gibbs, this was a very smart move as far as I’m concerned. Additionally it was beneficial for Freddie Gibbs because he gets more exposure as a result of Jeezy already having a large established fan base. I think that Freddie Gibbs has been amazing from the first time I heard him rhyme and he keeps getting better. Glad dude made it out of Gary, Indiana – I have witnessed how tough the living conditions are there. Believe me, it’s one of the worst places to live in the U.S. with all of the Steelworker Mills there… Click here to read more.. »
Kendrick Lamar is here with his new official “ADHD video” from his “Section 80 album” which has been out for a long time now. If you didn’t buy a copy, all I’m going to say is shame on you – this is probably the best release of the year thus far. The album is a personal favorite and so far, although I’ve given select albums almost as much rotation as “Section 80″ nothing is on the same level. Even Kanye and Jay-Z’s latest effort isn’t messing with this project. When he released this, it surprised me that it was as good as it was. Since the song “A.D.H.D.” was a personal favorite from the album, I’m VERY GLAD that Kendrick gave it the video treatment.
Kendrick Lamar – A.D.H.D. Video (Official)
“8 doobies to the face (fuck daht), 12 bottles in the case (fuck daht), 2 pills in the halfway… fuck daht”
Not only that, Kendrick is one of the most down to Earth people in the game these days. He’s all about west coast unity (Black Hippy) and represents unity in hip hop music – which I fully support. Anyways, the video was directed by Vashtie and presented by RockSmith. The video was shot in New York City during some very hot days during this July 2011 summer and is the third video from the “Section.80″ project. Click here to read more.. »
Lil Wayne is here with his official “How To Love video” off of his Tha Carter IV album which is coming soon. In fact, it’s set to be released digitally the night of the VMAs in order take full advantage of that hype and buzz. I’m wondering whether the project will outsell “Watch The Throne” but honestly don’t care if it does because I don’t think the quality will be as high as Jay-Z and Mr. West set. The one thing I like about Weezy though is that he isn’t afraid to mix things up and is one of the most competitive people in his craft. I think that the competitive energy is what draws people into his music and causes him to always push himself to do something different.
Lil Wayne – How To Love Video (Official)
I can understand why people like the song “How To Love” but to be honest, I’m not a huge fan of it. It is a commercial song, but it’s not something you’re going to find me listening to when his album drops. If I could pick any Wayne to listen to, it would be back in the good old days when he was working heavily with Mannie Fresh. I’m actually kind of depressed that him and Mannie no longer are working together because they both are incredibly talented at what they do.
Mannie though I know is trying to overcome some mental obstacles after leaving Cash Money and coping with the death of his daughter. Songs like “Bring It Back” and “Go DJ” are two of my most played Wayne jams of all time. What’s hilarious is that I’d guess that most fans of Wayne these days have no clue about songs like “Tha Block Is Hot,” the entire “500 Degreez album,” or know who B.G., Turk, and Juvenile were… It’s unfortunate. Juvenile needs to start putting out more music so I can at least post him up… Click here to read more.. »
Apathy is here with his official “Peace Connecticut video” off of his latest “Honkey Kong album.” This track was produced by Da Beatminerz and the video was done by Wicked Wood Studios. It was directed and edited by Open Mike and Greg LaRose. I thought that they did a good job with the video and that it’s a cool track just showing love to Connecticut. He even gave a shout out to upcoming rapper Chris Webby (saying that he’s getting busy in the studio). This is definitely a “feel good” single off of his album and I’m glad he went with this track for the video treatment.
Apathy – Peace Connecticut Video (Official) (prod. Da Beatminerz)
Some people were commenting on the fact that he’s representing CT but is wearing a New York Yankees jacket. It’s really not a big deal – Connecticut doesn’t have a baseball team. With that said, it definitely would have been cool to have him wear some UConn Huskies apparel or something since this is a tribute to his home state. Either way though, I’m not going to nit-pick about clothing in the midst of solid hip hop music. Last time I posted up Apathy was his “Love Lockdown freestyle” (from way back in the day). I figured that since he’s got a new album out, I’d let the underground heads know. Click here to read more.. »
2 Chainz (formerly Tity Boi) dropped his new official “Pimps video” featuring Bun B and Big K.R.I.T. and I thought that the track turned out to be cool as hell. Some blogs may have posted his name up as Teta Chico (which translates to “Titty Boy”… duh). Somehow people were getting confused and couldn’t tell it was actually 2 Chainz. With that said, if you listen to his music, you can easily tell when you hear his voice that it’s him. In this video (dedicated to Artemus Jenkins) though he is repping a dope golden AK-47 chain and the other chain is somewhat tough to see… Since his name is “2 Chainz” we expect to see 2 visible chains and there are, but the second one is fairly small which I’m cool with. I’d rather see a couple small high quality chains than big icebergs (unless we’re talking Gucci Mane).
2 Chainz – Pimps Video (feat. Bun B & Big K.R.I.T.)
“Pimp all day I even pimp in my sleep / when I wake up I smoke a blunt before I eat” – 2 Chainz
Anyways, Bun B always comes through with his southern flavor to contribute to making the track even better and one of the underground MVP’s of the past year in hip hop is definitely Big K.R.I.T. (from Mississippi). I’m glad that artists are starting to link up for collaborations more and I’m definitely glad that Bun B and K.R.I.T. have been getting put together on the same tracks. They were both on the same track on the “Pimp C Still Pimpin album” – the song they were on was really solid. Click here to read more.. »
