Asher Roth released his latest official “Summertime video” featuring Quan with Nottz on the production. For those of you that are totally unaware, Nottz has been around for a long time and really puts out some high quality instrumentals. In my opinion, Asher Roth pretty much made it okay to be a white teenage rapper in the present world post-Eminem. There was a large gap between any white rapper with mainstream appeal since Eminem, but Asher Roth seemed to fill that gap.
The thing is, he’s not at all like Eminem when it comes to music so I get kind of pissed when people even compare the two; they’re totally different styles (see the song “As I Em” if you are in the dark). What I mean is that this new generation of rappers like Mac Miller, Sam Adams, Chris Webby, etc. are all popping up and getting attention. Is it because of Asher Roth? No. But he definitely helped pave the way for the new generation of artists.
Asher Roth – Summertime Video (Official) feat. Quan & Nottz
The video was directed by Illusive Media in case you were wondering and was filmed in Virginia Beach. The thing about Asher Roth that a lot of people don’t recognize is that he’s just being himself and staying true to making good hip hop music. There’s nothing complicated with him, no hidden agendas, not much monetary motivation, and you don’t hear him talking about “fucking bitches, getting money, pimping hoes, slapping haters, etc.” which is what I like. I’ll be updating with an official download link below when I get word as to the official album, mixtape, or EP that this is going to end up on. Click here to read more.. »
