The-Dream – 1977 Terius Nash (Official Album Download + Tracklist)

The-Dream just released his official “1977 Terius Nash album” for free download for his fans. There are a total of 11 new tracks for his fans to enjoy. Originally he had wanted his upcoming album entitled “The Love IV: Diary of a Mad Man” to be released on his birthday (September 20th). However, something changed and he’s not able to release it on that date. In fact, it is set to get pushed back to the fourth quarter of 2011 a.k.a. November or December. So in the meantime, he decided to hook the fans up with this project to enjoy for free – definitely a classy thing to do. Plus what’s really dope is that all the files are in .M4A ready to be dragged right into your iTunes library…

As you should already know, he did the song “Murderer” which is featured on the upcoming soundtrack and trailer for the movie Colombiana. I’m glad to see a feature from Big Sean on the track “Ghetto.” There were a couple of features from Casha (who I’m not familiar with), but I’m actually most looking forward to hearing what kind of music The-Dream came up with for this one. There’s no denying that he’s one of the most vocally talented singers in the R&B game these days. Click here to read more.. »

Young Jeezy – Do It For You Video (feat. Freddie Gibbs) (Official Download)

Young Jeezy is here with his new official “Do It For You video” featuring Freddie Gibbs a.k.a. Gangsta Gibbs. Word is that Jeezy is going to drop a new mixtape with DJ Drama as a follow up to “The Real is Back” tape. His upcoming “Thug Motivation 103 album” has a scheduled release date of September 20th and I’m personally hoping that the date does NOT change. I’ve been a huge Jeezy fan since his original tapes like “Trap Or Die” and “Can’t Ban the Snowman” – both of which still get rotation in my iTunes library to this day.

Young Jeezy – Do It For You Video (feat. Freddie Gibbs) (Official)

I do like the fact that Jeezy signed Freddie Gibbs, this was a very smart move as far as I’m concerned. Additionally it was beneficial for Freddie Gibbs because he gets more exposure as a result of Jeezy already having a large established fan base. I think that Freddie Gibbs has been amazing from the first time I heard him rhyme and he keeps getting better. Glad dude made it out of Gary, Indiana – I have witnessed how tough the living conditions are there. Believe me, it’s one of the worst places to live in the U.S. with all of the Steelworker Mills there… Click here to read more.. »

Lil B – I Forgive You Mixtape (Official Download + Tracklist)

Lil B Based God is here with his new official “I Forgive You Mixtape” which you can download for free if you’re a fan of the #Based movement. I haven’t listened to this project yet, but I’m definitely going to take the time to bump this after I’m done listening and possibly reviewing “Tha Carter IV.” Anyways, with this project, you get 12 exclusive tracks from the Based God. I did write up a “Lil B – I’m Gay album review” awhile back and thought that he was trying his best to keep it positive. I like his direction and message to the people, but definitely rock with his ignorant stuff more than his newly founded conscious ways.

Lil B – I Forgive You (Album Artwork)

I think he can improve at becoming a conscious lyricist if that’s his goal though.  Throughout the past month or so, he did drop a slough of videos including: “Need My Love,” “Where Dem Based Boys,” “RIP The Rap Game,” and my personal favorite “Bill Bellamy.”  The artwork for this project was absolutely hilarious, which is typically is when it’s coming from the god himself.  I have been somewhat frustrated with my YouTube subscription lately to his account because it isn’t forwarding me the videos that have been dropping. Kendrick Lamar – A.D.H.D. Video (Official Download + Lyrics)

Kendrick Lamar is here with his new official “ADHD video” from his “Section 80 album” which has been out for a long time now. If you didn’t buy a copy, all I’m going to say is shame on you – this is probably the best release of the year thus far. The album is a personal favorite and so far, although I’ve given select albums almost as much rotation as “Section 80” nothing is on the same level. Even Kanye and Jay-Z’s latest effort isn’t messing with this project. When he released this, it surprised me that it was as good as it was. Since the song “A.D.H.D.” was a personal favorite from the album, I’m VERY GLAD that Kendrick gave it the video treatment.

Kendrick Lamar – A.D.H.D. Video (Official)

“8 doobies to the face (fuck daht), 12 bottles in the case (fuck daht), 2 pills in the halfway… fuck daht”

Not only that, Kendrick is one of the most down to Earth people in the game these days. He’s all about west coast unity (Black Hippy) and represents unity in hip hop music – which I fully support. Anyways, the video was directed by Vashtie and presented by RockSmith. The video was shot in New York City during some very hot days during this July 2011 summer and is the third video from the “Section.80” project. Click here to read more.. »

Lil Wayne – How To Love Video (Official Download + Lyrics)

Lil Wayne is here with his official “How To Love video” off of his Tha Carter IV album which is coming soon. In fact, it’s set to be released digitally the night of the VMAs in order take full advantage of that hype and buzz. I’m wondering whether the project will outsell “Watch The Throne” but honestly don’t care if it does because I don’t think the quality will be as high as Jay-Z and Mr. West set. The one thing I like about Weezy though is that he isn’t afraid to mix things up and is one of the most competitive people in his craft. I think that the competitive energy is what draws people into his music and causes him to always push himself to do something different.

Lil Wayne – How To Love Video (Official)

I can understand why people like the song “How To Love” but to be honest, I’m not a huge fan of it. It is a commercial song, but it’s not something you’re going to find me listening to when his album drops. If I could pick any Wayne to listen to, it would be back in the good old days when he was working heavily with Mannie Fresh. I’m actually kind of depressed that him and Mannie no longer are working together because they both are incredibly talented at what they do.

Mannie though I know is trying to overcome some mental obstacles after leaving Cash Money and coping with the death of his daughter. Songs like “Bring It Back” and “Go DJ” are two of my most played Wayne jams of all time.  What’s hilarious is that I’d guess that most fans of Wayne these days have no clue about songs like “Tha Block Is Hot,” the entire “500 Degreez album,” or know who B.G., Turk, and Juvenile were… It’s unfortunate.  Juvenile needs to start putting out more music so I can at least post him up…  Click here to read more.. »

Apathy – Peace Connecticut Video (prod. Da Beatminerz) (Official Download) (Honkey Kong Album)

Apathy is here with his official “Peace Connecticut video” off of his latest “Honkey Kong album.” This track was produced by Da Beatminerz and the video was done by Wicked Wood Studios. It was directed and edited by Open Mike and Greg LaRose. I thought that they did a good job with the video and that it’s a cool track just showing love to Connecticut. He even gave a shout out to upcoming rapper Chris Webby (saying that he’s getting busy in the studio). This is definitely a “feel good” single off of his album and I’m glad he went with this track for the video treatment.

Apathy – Peace Connecticut Video (Official) (prod. Da Beatminerz)

Some people were commenting on the fact that he’s representing CT but is wearing a New York Yankees jacket. It’s really not a big deal – Connecticut doesn’t have a baseball team. With that said, it definitely would have been cool to have him wear some UConn Huskies apparel or something since this is a tribute to his home state. Either way though, I’m not going to nit-pick about clothing in the midst of solid hip hop music. Last time I posted up Apathy was his “Love Lockdown freestyle” (from way back in the day). I figured that since he’s got a new album out, I’d let the underground heads know. Click here to read more.. »

2 Chainz – Pimps Video (feat. Bun B & Big K.R.I.T.) (Official)

2 Chainz (formerly Tity Boi) dropped his new official “Pimps video” featuring Bun B and Big K.R.I.T. and I thought that the track turned out to be cool as hell. Some blogs may have posted his name up as Teta Chico (which translates to “Titty Boy”… duh). Somehow people were getting confused and couldn’t tell it was actually 2 Chainz. With that said, if you listen to his music, you can easily tell when you hear his voice that it’s him. In this video (dedicated to Artemus Jenkins) though he is repping a dope golden AK-47 chain and the other chain is somewhat tough to see… Since his name is “2 Chainz” we expect to see 2 visible chains and there are, but the second one is fairly small which I’m cool with. I’d rather see a couple small high quality chains than big icebergs (unless we’re talking Gucci Mane).

2 Chainz – Pimps Video (feat. Bun B & Big K.R.I.T.)

“Pimp all day I even pimp in my sleep / when I wake up I smoke a blunt before I eat” – 2 Chainz

Anyways, Bun B always comes through with his southern flavor to contribute to making the track even better and one of the underground MVP’s of the past year in hip hop is definitely Big K.R.I.T. (from Mississippi). I’m glad that artists are starting to link up for collaborations more and I’m definitely glad that Bun B and K.R.I.T. have been getting put together on the same tracks. They were both on the same track on the “Pimp C Still Pimpin album” – the song they were on was really solid. Click here to read more.. »

Diamond – Bitch Muzik 4: Poor Lil Rich Gurl Mixtape (Official Download + Tracklist)

Diamond is here with her “Bitch Muzik 4 Mixtape” a.k.a. the “Poor Lil Rich Gurl Mixtape” as she continues her grind and mixtape series with DJ Scream. Although I’m not too familiar with her, she sounds to me like a Trina 2.0… That’s not necessarily a bad thing since Trina has some jams. She has a lot of aggressive energy though and I could see where some females may like what she brings to the scene. As of now though, I’ve gotta say that Nicki Minaj is one of my favorite female artists (despite the hate). It will be interesting to see if Diamond generates enough buzz to ever drop an album.

Diamond – Bitch Muzik 4: Poor Lil Rich Gurl (Album Artwork)

In my opinion, the best part of the tape = Waka Flocka Flame verse on track “Hit That Hoe.”  I also thought that “Red Lipstick” was pretty legit even though I cannot really relate to the subject matter.  Since I’m speaking on female artists, I will also say to lookout for Cartier Kitten (she’s got some pretty dope rhymes). Just know though that when it comes to legitimate female emcees, I think Missy Elliot, Jean Grae, MC Lyte and Lauryn Hill. Anyways, I figured that I’d post this tape up just to see what people thought of Diamond… With lyrics like “I ball ball ball like my name’s John Wall” – it’s tough to say that she’s lyrical. Even then though, being lyrical isn’t everything these days, but I cannot rock with this tape – it’s just not that good. Click here to read more.. »

STS – The Illustrious Album (Official Download + Tracklist)

Rapper STS (Sugar Tongue Slim) released a brand new “The Illustrious album,” and man it’s dope. I honestly thought it was going to be put out for sale on iTunes, but for some reason, it’s popping off for free through his website… crazy!  UPDATE: You should eventually be able to support him on iTunes (there are “iTunes bonus tracks” listed, so it would make sense that he’ll put it out for sale. The album was recorded in Atlanta’s legendary Tree Sound Studios and features years worth of mastering, music, lifestyle, and experience on the album. STS was featured on the “Ski Beatz 24 Hour Karate School 2 album” and did an awesome job on the song “Moonwalking.”

STS – The Illustrious Album (Artwork)

To make sure that he was on point throughout the album, he enlisted some of hip hop music’s elite artists to help him.  He got Ski Beatz, The Alchemist (AlanTheChemist), Will Power, and The Knux for the production and instrumentals.  He also enlisted the likes of Pierre Medor, Prentis Brown, Dame the Great, School Boy Vic, Kari “Ferrari” Marteen, KP and Malay, Emile, Felony Music, Blak, and BearOne for some instrumentals.  As far as features are concerned, he got Farnsworth Bentley, Count Justice, Dice Raw, Tony Williams, The Mad Violinist, Yelawolf, Jon Hope, and Nikkiya.

There are so many tracks that you can’t really go wrong.  Although I didn’t listen to it in its entirety yet, I think it sounds alright.  If you don’t know what to think about him and don’t want to write S.T.S. (Sugar Tongue Slim) off without giving him a chance, I suggest you start with the track “Sugar’s Here” (song #3) because it bangs, showcases his flows, and lyrical ability.  I’m not going to hype this up like it’s really amazing, but I think that it’s some really quality hip hop music for the people.  I will post up STS anytime he drops something…  Anyways, continue reading below for his words about the album, the official tracklist, as well as a download link!  He has come along way since the “Sugar Tongue Slim – Demand More 1.2 Mixtape” – that’s for damn sure. Rock (of Heltah Skeltah) – Almost Over Video (Official) [Monsta Mondays Week #43]

Rock (of Heltah Skeltah) drops the official “Almost Over video” for Week #43 of his “Monsta Mondays” series with Suge White. Although I haven’t been a fan of every single Monsta Mondays track that has dropped, whenever he gets original production or production that fits his style well, I usually really dig what he does. At the end of the day, I’m definitely a huge fan of Rock and honestly am going to be eagerly awaiting another Heltah Skeltah album… Anytime you add Sean Price to the mix, you know that P! makes it legendary. Although Sean Price is has the edge for my personal tastes, Rock is a monsta and can go absolutely bananas like he proved here.

Rock (of Heltah Skeltah) – Almost Over Video (Official)

I was glad that he was included on the “Random Axe album” that dropped on the track “Another One.” That whole project with Guilty, Black, and Sean Price was dope, but I’d personally prefer another Heltah Skeltah album before another Random Axe album, just because I think that P! and Rock are like brothers and have amazing chemistry in the booth. Anyways, I’m not sure how many more weeks this “Monsta Mondays” series is going to go, but my guess is that he’s going to keep it up for a full year. Click here to read more.. »
