The Game is back with his “Hood Morning Mixtape” or if you want the full name (Hood Morning No Typo: Candy Coronas Mixtape) hosted by DJ Skee. This is basically to get the people hyped up for the “R.E.D. album” which will be dropping soon (August 23, 2011). Last week I posted up “The Game Pot of Gold video” which I thought turned out well. The track itself is banging, but definitely has that album sound. This is Game going in for his latest mixtape and I think it’s pretty good minus the song “Uncle Otis” which was weak on all levels including concept.

With this tape, there are a total of 20 tracks from the West Coast representative and there is a wide variety of production. On the opening track “Hoodmorning” he pretty much jacks Kanye West’s swag from the track “Good Morning” and just switches up the “G” to an “H” to create “Hood Morning” with Mars on the production. Additionally, there are some unreleased tracks featuring a variety of artists including Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg (potentially Detox or R.E.D. album throwaways)… Upon first listen, I thought that the instrumental for “Can You Believe It” was the best song on the mixtape in addition to the song “I’m On” with no features and “She Wanna Have My Baby” with Trey Songz… The tape as a whole is pretty solid, but there were a few weak links as with most tapes these days. The Game a.k.a. Jayceon Taylor released his official “Pot of Gold video” featuring Chris Brown off of his upcoming “R.E.D. album.” This track right here is 100% dope and something that serves as a great single for his summer release. I’ve been a fan of The Game for as long as I can remember, but that “Uncle Otis diss” track that came out last week was a joke (in more ways than one). First of all, it was a pathetic attempt to get some extra hype and attention before his album comes out. Second, it just straight up sucked donkey balls.

Kanye West and Jay-Z are better than The Game, period. I know he likes to keep it competitive by going after other rappers, but this just wasn’t it. Neither Ye or Jay are going to respond anyways and it’s not because they are afraid, they could slaughter The Game musically and lyrically if they really wanted to… I know Uncle Otis was trending on Twitter and I’m glad that most people realized it was complete trash. The sad thing is that most people lost some respect for The Game after he released that track (including myself) which made me less hyped for his upcoming album.
The Game has been working on the “R.E.D. album” for what seems like decades and most fans were annoyed with the fact that it kept getting pushed back. As a fan of The Game, I was ready to go out and support this album last year when it was supposed to drop. Then for whatever reason, there were some issues at the label (maybe due to lack of response or mistimed promotion), but the album got pushed back. The original first single for the album was supposed to be “Krazy” featuring Gucci Mane with production from Timbaland. However, something happened and they completely scrapped that track after it was released in November 2009.

The Game has been releasing street singles since 2009
The Game followed up with the song “Big Money” which came out back in December of 2009 and I thought that it was a pretty solid track. It eventually was put on iTunes for people to go out and buy so people were thinking that the “R.E.D. album” was coming soon – and that was back in 2009! In April of 2010, The Game released “It Must Be Me” on the radio and put it on iTunes as well. Following that, the game released a music video for the song “Shake” which I also thought was a fairly good track; keep in mind that this was all back in early 2010. Click here to read more.. »
The Game talks about his take on Rihanna on Chris Brown, he even clowns Jay-Z a little bit. Talks about The Rick Ross and 50 Cent beef, and declares he will not be retiring and will have an album out in September. Good to hear from Jayceon!
Here’s some Creepin’ on the lo-lo with The Game in this version – also with LUDA (as did the previous drop). Check up on it and be on the lookout for VENOM – which will be siiiiiiiq! Chamillitary Mayne.
